No jargon, no upsell. Just what you're actually buying, when it's worth doing, and why a professional makes the difference. ### What it is Softwashing is a low-pressure cleaning method that uses a specialist biocide solution to kill algae, lichen, moss and biofilm at the root, then rinses the surface clear at safe water pressure. Currently offered on render, patios and driveways (no roof cleaning yet). ### Who it's for Homeowners across Fareham, Gosport, Stubbington, Portchester, Whiteley, Paulsgrove, Cosham, Havant and Leigh Park with green or black-stained render, mossy patio slabs, or driveways that have gone dark with biological growth. ### When you need it Best done in spring or autumn when temperatures support effective biocide dwell time. Most properties benefit every 2–3 years; an optional biocide top-up between full cleans extends the result significantly. ### Why professional matters Jet-washing alone removes the visible top layer of growth but leaves the spores embedded. Within months the surface re-greens. Softwashing kills the organism, which is why a properly softwashed surface stays cleaner for years, not weeks. What happens if you leave it ## Small problem now. Expensive problem later. ### Green render Algae and biofilm on render reads as 'tired house' from the road. Painting over it doesn't fix it — the organic layer just reappears through the paint. ### Slippery patios & driveways Moss and algae on paving aren't just cosmetic — they're a slip hazard, especially in autumn and winter. Insurers take it seriously, and so should you. ### Jet-wash damage DIY jet-washing render and old block paving at the wrong pressure pits the surface, blows out joint sand, and accelerates re-growth. The fix costs more than doing it properly the first time. ### Quick re-greening A surface that's just been blasted clean with water re-greens within a season. The biological cause was never addressed. How the job runs ## A clear, repeatable 5-step process. 1. 01 ### In-person site visit Softwashing quotes are always visited in person — surface type, exposure and growth severity all change the spec. 2. 02 ### Bespoke quote in writing A clear written quote including any optional biocide top-up to extend longevity. Sent same-day where possible. 3. 03 ### Site protection Plants, garden features and entry points protected before treatment. Pets brought inside. Surrounding hard surfaces pre-wetted. 4. 04 ### Low-pressure biocide treatment Specialist biocide solution applied at low pressure across the surface, with the dwell time needed to penetrate and kill the growth at the root. 5. 05 ### Controlled rinse + 12-month guarantee Surface rinsed at a safe pressure once the biocide has done its work. Backed by a 12-month workmanship guarantee from the day of the clean. What you actually get ## Concrete outcomes. No fluffy promises. ### Kills, doesn't smear Biocide kills the algae and moss at the root — not 'pushes it sideways' like a pressure wash would. ### 12-month guarantee If treated render, patios or driveways re-grow within 12 months, I come back and re-treat free of charge. ### Safer for surfaces Low pressure means no pitting, no blown-out sand, no damaged pointing, no etched render. ### Longer-lasting result Because the cause is addressed, a softwashed surface stays cleaner for years — usually 2–3× longer than jet-washing alone. ### Optional biocide top-up A maintenance biocide application between full cleans extends results significantly. Priced as an optional extra on the original quote. ### Specifically insured Softwashing is covered under a dedicated £1M public & products liability policy with Hiscox — separate from the general window/gutter cover. Method, materials & detail ## The proper standard — explained. Softwashing is a regulated, certified discipline — not a marketing word for a gentle jet-wash. Here's the standard the work is delivered to. ### SoftWash UK Certified Applicator All softwashing is delivered by a SoftWash UK Approved & Certified Soft Wash Applicator (Certificate of Competence ID 8n8uvkpwyw, issued April 2026, valid to March 2029). The business is also listed on the SoftWash UK applicator database and an NASW member. ### Render cleaning Algae, lichen and biofilm killed and rinsed clear from textured render, monocouche, K-rend and traditional rendered walls. Surfaces left without etching, pitting or 'tide' lines often seen with jet-washing. ### Patio & driveway cleaning Block paving, Indian sandstone, slabs and concrete drives treated to remove green and black biological staining. Re-sanding of block-paving joints is intentionally not included — quoted by specialists if needed afterwards. ### Optional biocide top-up An additional biocide application can be added either at time of clean or as a 6–9 month maintenance visit. This is the single biggest factor in how long the surface stays clean. ### What we don't offer yet Roof softwashing isn't offered — the dedicated equipment isn't in place. The 12-month guarantee covers render, patios and driveways only. Honest scope, properly delivered, beats overselling and apologising. ### Specific insurance cover Softwashing carries its own £1,000,000 public & products liability policy with Hiscox, separate from the general window/gutter/jet-wash cover — because the work involves chemistry, not just water.
